Abhishek Bachchan is all set for his latest release, Be Happy. The actor, who has spent over two decades in the industry, plays a single parent in the film who wants to fulfill his daughter’s wish of dancing.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Abhishek opened up about what he hopes parents take away from the film. He said, “I don't want parents to take away anything from the film. I want their children to see it and hug their parents after watching it.”
As his upcoming film is titled Be Happy, ETimes asked him if he had any memories of the famous song Don’t Worry Be Happy from his father Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 film Toofan. Abhishek shared, “I have vivid memories of that song. I remember the music sitting for that song was done by the great Mr. Anu Malik in our drawing room. I was in boarding school in Europe, and I had come back for my holidays. I had reached the night before and woke up late the next day. We had a sitting area, and I remember seeing Anu Malik sitting with his peti (harmonium) along with my dad and Manmohan Desai uncle. They were all singing ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy,’ and I was like, what are you all doing? I had heard the song before… ‘Don't Worry, Be Happy’—I’m like, it's Bobby McFerrin! But they had heard the song, adapted it, and at that time, it became an anthem.”
Post Be Happy, Abhishek will be seen teaming up with his buddy Tarun Mansukhani for Housefull 5, where he will share screen space with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, and many more. He is also reportedly cast as the negative lead in King alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
Be Happy also stars Inayat Verma, Nora Fatehi, Nassar and Johnny Lever in pivotal roles, the film is directed by Remo D'souza.
